17th Minbizcon formally launched
CDO LaunchingThe 17th Mindanao Business Conference (Minbizcon) to be held in Dipolog City this August was formally launched Friday, June 20 at Mallberry Suites Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.
 
The launching ceremony, attended by key officers of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), leaders of Mindanao local chambers and USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM3) Program, kicks off the campaign for this year’s conference to be held August 27-29, 2008 at the Zamboanga del Norte Convention Center in Dipolog City.
 
The Mindanao Business Conference, organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is the largest annual gathering of the various sectors representing the Mindanao business community. Hosting this year’s Minbizcon is the Dipolog Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the provincial government of Zamboanga del Norte and the city governments of Dipolog and Dapitan. The conference is likewise being supported by the Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM3) Program, the Mindanao Economic Development Council (MEDCO) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

US Ambassador to keynote 17th MINBIZCON, PGMA invited as Guest of Honor

PGMAThe US Embassy through USAID’s Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program has confirmed the acceptance by US Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney to the invitation to keynote the opening of the 17th Mindanao Business Conference (Minbizcon) slated August 27-29 here in Dipolog City. This was announced by Edgar Bagarinao, President of Dipolog Chamber of Commerce and Industry and conference director.
 
“We are excited with this latest development as we prepare for this big event that will put Dipolog City in the map of the Philippine business community,” said Bagarinao.
 
“We have also invited President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to be the Guest of Honor during the closing program of the conference and we expect to hear word from Malacanang of the President’s confirmation in a couple of weeks. It has been a tradition that the President personally attends the Minbizcon to receive the Mindanao Policy Agenda which is an integration of issues and recommendations from the business community,” he added.
